The Aeromarine 40F was a biplane U.S. Navy flying boat training aircraft.
The aircraft was propelled by a pusher prop and had side-by-side seating for instructor and student.
Approximately fifty Aeromarine 40F aircraft of all types were manufactured before production ceased when WW1 ended. However, it appears than none flew during the War.
The Aeromarine 40F was used by the U.S. Navy after the war. They were reported to be well mannered, easy to fly and maintain. However, the aircraft was best suited to operations from smooth water due to its relatively light construction, making it of limited service to the deep water navy.
